At the age of eleven, I started working with my dad logging in the mountains of Montana. I learned at this young age how to operate a chainsaw and fell trees.  Among other things, we were required to learn how to operate large machinery such as skidders, delimbers, bulldozer cats and log trucks.  It was through this hard work that I formed a strong work ethic and it has stayed with me my entire life.

 

After coming home from college, I went to work for a custom log home company in Montana and learned how to design and build Scandinavian full-scribe log homes. This became a natural transition from my experience as a logger to connect to the engineering side of building structures that are neither linear nor dimensional, but 100% custom. Thus, my love of design build was born.  I built structures on site and traveled several places around the country to oversee the proper reassembly on their permanent foundations. 

 

From there, I ventured into the art of design build of a custom log tradeshow booth and several log concept shops for a local buffalo & elk skin shoe company. The tradeshow booth brought me to Las Vegas twice a year for the Western Shoe Associates Tradeshow, which was the nation’s largest shoe show. The concept shops, which transpired from the tradeshows, were custom built and installed in high-end shoe stores throughout the nation.  Along with designing and building the structures, I was also in charge of managing the transportation of the logs and would travel to oversee installation in the various stores.

 

In 2000, my family and I relocated to Colorado and I went to work for a local commercial construction company.  After working in that scenario for a year and a half, I realized that my true passion was in custom residential renovation.  That’s when I decided to branch out on my own and the idea of Troy Valdez Construction was born.  My dream was to change the way most people reacted to and perceived remodeling contractors.  I strive to offer my clients not only top-notch remodeling skills, ideas and think-outside-the-box design build capabilities, but the utmost professionalism and transparency.  We help our long-term and new clients reach their renovation goals one project at a time.
